A bit about us

Carmarthen Veterinary Centre is a purpose-built, award-winning hospital in the heart of West Wales. We’re a busy, multi-discipline practice with a highly experienced and supportive team, and we’re proud to provide outstanding care across a varied and interesting caseload — including complex orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries, as well as exotics and wildlife.

We’re RCVS accredited and hold awards for:

  • In-patient Service – Outstanding

  • Client Service – Outstanding

  • Patient Consultation Service – Good

You’ll be working alongside 8 small animal vets and a fantastic nursing and support team who enjoy working collaboratively and making the most of everyone’s strengths.

The hospital is well equipped, with the recent installation of a CT scanner, further strengthening our diagnostic capabilities. We’re always open to developing the service, and you’ll be encouraged to get involved in clinical discussions and decision-making.

The role

We’re looking for a vet with 3+ years’ experience to join us. If you’re confident with consults and general surgery and enjoy working as part of a wider clinical team, we’d love to hear from you.

What’s on offer:

  • A consult/surgery mix, with support for developing your interests!

  • Progression and training, surgical preference ideal
  • Consult-only options also considered — just let us know what suits

  • A dedicated MiNightVet team

  • Visa sponsorship and relocation packages available if you’re thinking of a move

We’re proud to offer flexibility, development opportunities and the chance to work in a practice that handles a genuinely wide range of cases — ideal if you’re looking to keep growing your skills or want to be part of a forward-thinking, caring team.

Ideally, the preferred candidate will have a surgical bias to help support our wider team.

The location

Carmarthen is a historic market town surrounded by beautiful countryside and just a short drive from the stunning Welsh coastline. It’s a brilliant place to live and work, with easy access to nature, beaches and good local amenities. Whether you’re into walking, wildlife, surfing or simply enjoying scenic views on your commute, this part of West Wales has a lot to offer.

Benefits include:

  • RCVS and VDS fees covered
  • Access to the company share-save scheme and individual bonus scheme (based on personal productivity)
  • 5 weeks annual leave and option to buy/sell up to 4 additional weeks!
  • Receive an extra day’s leave each year during your first 5 years at CVS
  • Cycle to work scheme and subsidised gym membership
  • Enhanced Maternity, Paternity and Adoption pay
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Access to First Aid for Mental Health and Wellbeing Champions across CVS, with over 300 trained colleagues in this role
  • Generous pet treatment and product discounts
