Qualifications

  • You must be a time served apprentice or equivalent, supported with academic qualification(s).
  • Full UK driving license is essential due to the mobile nature of the role.
  • Proven experience in an electrical maintenance or engineering role, ideally in a field-based or utilities environment.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills across electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with maintaining, calibrating and servicing equipment in water or wastewater industries.
  • Solid understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication with teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, efficient instrumentation maintenance and installation service.
  • Diagnose and fix faults, ensuring all systems-based equipment operate correctly.
  • Conduct planned tasks to prevent maintenance issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Manage budgets effectively and maintain financial control.
  • Provide accurate asset performance data for corporate systems.
  • Analyze root causes of recurring issues and recommend solutions.

From Sensors to Systems-Engineering Reliability
The Role

Are you ready to take on a hands‑on role where no two days are the same? As an Instrumentation Field Service Engineer, you’ll play a key part in keeping our assets running smoothly by delivering expert maintenance and technical support to our Production team.

Working in a fast‑paced, modern maintenance environment, you’ll be at the forefront of proactive, planned, and reactive support—making a real impact every day. Your expertise will help ensure we stay compliant with all company, statutory, and regulatory standards, all while helping to protect the environment.

But that’s not all—you’ll also have the chance to shape the future of our operations by contributing to capital and operational projects, ensuring our assets are built with maintenance and performance in mind from day one.

This role offers a great mix of independence and teamwork. You’ll need to be comfortable working solo at times, but you’ll also collaborate closely with a supportive team when needed.

Please note:

  • This role involves working in confined spaces.
  • You’ll also take part in an out-of-hours standby rota, so flexibility is key.

Here’s how we reward your skillset:

  • If you’re bringing one core skill to us (Electrical/Mechanical/Instrumentation) you’ll start on a salary of £38,462, but if you’ve got both disciplines, you’ll earn £44,320.

Role Accountabilities
  • Delivering a high‑quality, efficient instrumentation maintenance and installation service that keeps everything running like clockwork.
  • Diagnosing and fixing faults with precision—making sure all instrumentation and systems‑based equipment are operating at their best.
  • Taking a proactive approach to maintenance, carrying out planned tasks to prevent issues before they arise.
  • Championing safety by ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety regulations and internal policies.
  • Keeping a close eye on the numbers by managing budgets effectively and maintaining financial control.
  • Providing accurate, reliable asset performance and repair data to feed into our corporate systems—your insights will help drive smarter decisions.
  • Tackling recurring maintenance issues head‑on by analysing root causes and recommending long‑term solutions.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualifications– you must be a time served apprentice or equivalent, supported with academic qualification(s).
  • Full UK driving licenseis essential due to the mobile nature of the role.
  • Field service experience– Proven experience in an electrical maintenance or engineering role, ideally in a field‑based or utilities environment.
  • Fault‑finding expertise– Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills across electrical systems, controls, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of flow, level & measurable instruments– Familiarity with maintaining, calibrating and servicing equipment particularly in water, wastewater, or similar process industries.
  • Health & Safety awareness– Solid understanding of safe systems of work, risk assessments, and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Team player– Comfortable working independently while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with on‑site teams and contractors.

This role may not be eligible for visa sponsorship.
