Governors bring their professional experience and personal attributes to bear in support of the College’s educational mission. The Board includes a wide range of experiences and professional backgrounds. It is not necessary to have worked in an educational setting in order to serve as a college governor – indeed, the College benefits from outside perspectives just as much as experience from other schools, universities and colleges. Your background and knowledge will be highly valuable to the College in meeting its ambitions.
This is an opportunity to contribute to positive outcomes for learners from a range of ages and diverse backgrounds, at a College which transforms the prospects of its students.
Governors at our College should be committed and professional. We have a talented and skilled Board and are seeking to appoint governors who can bolster the skills mix for the Board. We are particularly keen that our Board continues to represent the communities it serves, at a borough and learner level, adding to the existing diversity of the Board. As such, we welcome applications from candidates from a range of backgrounds.
It is an exciting time to join us as a governor as we improve and innovate our curriculum to give students the skills they need to succeed. We received a Good Ofsted outcome in June 2025 and were judged to be making a Strong contribution to local skills needs. It is an exciting time in the Further Education sector, with significant change to Post 16 and skills education proposed, which will significantly affect the College, offering new opportunities and challenges.
The Board appointed a new Chair in summer 2025, who has a strong understanding of the FE sector and clear ambitions shared by the Board. We are recruiting governors to match the College's ambitions for change in areas like sustainability and estates, while also succession planning for key roles in relation to finance and safeguarding.
