Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in heavy or industrial equipment assembly.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in mechanical fitting or assembly roles.

About the Job

To manufacture, assemble, maintain, and operate large energetic mechanical systems. This role combines traditional mechanical fitting skills with specialized knowledge of pneumatic systems and heavy equipment handling, ensuring safe and efficient performance both in the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Installation:

  • Fit, assemble, and align mechanical components for large pneumatic mechanical systems.
  • Install and secure parts using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Ensure tolerances and specifications are met during assembly.

Maintenance & Repair:

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults in large precision systems.
  • Replace worn or damaged components and carry out preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation.

Machining & Fabrication:

  • Operate workshop machinery (e.g., lathes, milling machines) for component manufacture or modification.
  • Perform drilling, grinding, and finishing tasks as required.

Pneumatic Systems:

  • Assemble and maintain pneumatic circuits, valves, and pressure control systems.
  • Test and calibrate pneumatic components for operational readiness.

Equipment Handling:

  • Safely operate lifting and rigging equipment for large assemblies.
  • Comply with manual handling and health & safety standards.

Operational Deployment:

  • Operate systems in overseas environments following strict safety protocols.
  • Support testing and commissioning activities on-site.
Required Skills & Knowledge
  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter in heavy or industrial equipment assembly.
  • Strong mechanical assembly and repair skills.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, pressure systems, and associated safety standards.
  • Competence in machining and fabrication techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, and workshop machinery.
  • Familiarity with lifting equipment and safe handling of large components.
