Job summary

A leading electric aviation company in Bristol is looking for an Advanced Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in thermal runaway prevention. In this role, you will be part of the Energy Storage team, collaborating on designs that ensure battery safety and certification. Key responsibilities include conducting thermal runaway tests, analyzing results, and developing new mechanical designs. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design within battery systems, strong CAD skills, and a degree in a related field. Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in mechanical design focusing on complex electro-mechanical systems.
  • High proficiency in CAD with an emphasis on battery systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills for assessing thermal runaway test results.

Responsibilities

  • Support and progress thermal runaway testing activities.
  • Analyze test data to inform future design and simulation activities.
  • Develop and own mechanical designs relevant to thermal runaway.

Skills

Mechanical design experience
Understanding of thermal runaway prevention
Experience with thermal runaway testing
Strong CAD and PLM capability
Experience working in fast-paced engineering teams

Education

Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or related discipline
