A leading NHS trust in Liverpool is seeking a full time Consultant Neurophysiologist to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess significant expertise in EEG, including invasive telemetry monitoring, and must have the necessary clinical training and qualifications. The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust would like to invite applications for this full time, 10PA, substantive post of Consultant Neurophysiologist based in Liverpool, Merseyside, to join our existing team of 5 Consultant Neurophysiologists (3.7 WTE). Ideally, applicants must have significant EEG expertise in invasive telemetry monitoring, or routine EEG reporting and EMG. There is flexibility with the job plan content, applications would be welcomed from those with special interests or wishing to develop their skills further. For example, this may include paediatric work as there is an opportunity for a joint job plan with Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Candidates wanting to work, part time or flexibly would also be considered.
In order to be considered for the position of Consultant Neurophysiologist it is essential for candidates to have clinical training & experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Neurophysiology, be eligible for entry on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview, hold MBBS/MBCH and possess MRCP.

The Neurophysiology department is part of the Neurology directorate and offers a wide range of services and as part of the epilepsy surgery programme (recently enhanced by NHE confirmation of the Trust becoming the North UK provider for LITT), long term EEG monitoring/ stereotactic EEG, 3 video telemetry beds and ambulatory video EEG including home monitoring. We routinely undertake nerve conduction studies/EMG including complex cases, Single‑fibre EMG, Sleep studies (MSLT/Polysomnography) and evoked potentials. We also have an active intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring service offering monitoring for cortical, brainstem and spinal surgeries.

The team currently comprises 4 Consultant Neurophysiologists, 1 Specialist Registrar, 12.75 WTE Clinical Physiologists (Band 5‑8), 2 apprentices, an admin team, Operations Manager and Service Manager. We have an active programme of continued professional development for all staff. We work closely with other departments in the hospital and within the region and have regular epilepsy and neuromuscular MDTs.
