Job description

Our vibrant organisation seeks a new Chair to lead our continuing growth and development, working with the Officers and established volunteers of the Executive Team.

We need to review our structure, roles and activities to meet the demands of our growing membership.

What difference will you make?

A new structure will let us offer better support and more opportunities to our membership which has grown from c300 to >400 in the past 3 years.

Clarity about roles, responsibilities and interfaces will make it easier to find volunteers.

A more formal structure for HVA will enable us to access other funding sources to support future growth and activities.

What are we looking for?
  • Commitment to HVA’s mission and values
  • Strong leadership, strategic development, communication, and facilitation skills
  • Experience in governance, management, or voluntary sector leadership
  • Able to dedicate time to meetings, events, and advocacy.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of the visual arts sector
  • Experience in fundraising, partnership development, or community engagement
  • Previous trustee or committee experience.
What will you be doing?

Our current leadership team comprises elected Officers, local group leaders, and others with specialist skills. Meetings are monthly on Zoom/quarterly in person in the evening.

We believe the time is right to

  • Review the organisation's structure
  • Change and formalise our organisation set-up

Some work has been started to achieve these changes, but we need a new Chair to take things forward.
