Physical Security Design Specialist, Security Risk Management
Security Risk Management
Security Risk Management | London, United Kingdom | 21013497
Overview
Kroll is seeking a Security Design Consulting Specialist to provide physical security design and consulting services to international clients. The role requires strong capability in the design, review, specification, and assurance of integrated physical security solutions, particularly electronic security systems (ESS) such as CCTV/VSS, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and associated infrastructure, alongside layered physical protection measures.
A core expectation of this position is the ability to remain current with emerging physical security technologies (including advancements in video analytics, identity credentials, cloud and cyber-secure ESS architectures, and systems integration) and to translate those developments into practical, standards-aligned design recommendations. The successful candidate will also demonstrate working knowledge of relevant international and regional standards, codes, and industry good practice, and will apply these to deliver compliant, resilient security designs across diverse operating environments.
This role supports client programmes across Europe and the Middle East and requires up to 50% travel.
Location and Working Pattern
Hybrid role: combination of home-based and London office-based work when not travelling or attending client sites.
Candidates must reside within commuting distance of London and have the right to live and work in the UK.
Kroll will not sponsor overseas applicants for this London-based role.
Role Responsibilities
- Provide security design and assurance advice across the full project lifecycle (strategy, concept, outline, scheme, detailed design, implementation support, commissioning, and operational handover).
- Develop concept and detailed designs for electronic security systems, including:
- CCTV/VSS architecture, coverage modelling, and performance specification
- Access control design (doors, readers, credentials, biometrics where applicable), integrations and zoning
- Intrusion detection and alarm systems (perimeter and internal), monitoring, and response interfaces
- Control room / SOC considerations, alarm management, and system resilience
- Design and specify layered physical security measures and delay/denial solutions to mitigate manual forced entry and other physical attack vectors (e.g. hostile vehicles, uncrewed aerial systems).
- Conduct security surveys and assessments of existing sites and systems; identify gaps, vulnerabilities, and upgrade pathways.
- Produce clear client deliverables, including security strategies, design reports, specifications, drawings, risk-based recommendations, and budgetary cost estimates.
- Ensure designs are aligned to applicable international standards and client governance requirements; document compliance, assumptions, and aligned to client risk appetite.
- Review RFPs/RFIs, develop technical responses and proposals, and support business development activity.
- Coordinate with stakeholders (client teams, architects, MEP engineers, IT/cyber teams, integrators, and contractors) to ensure security requirements are integrated into overall project delivery.
Key Skills and Qualifications
- Demonstrable experience designing and/or reviewing:
- CCTV/VSS, access control, intrusion detection, alarms, and integrated ESS platforms
- Multilayered security architectures (perimeter, building, internal zoning, high-value areas)
- Strong understanding of security standards, compliance, and assurance, including the ability to interpret and apply relevant international standards and good practice to design and delivery.
- Proven ability to keep up to date with latest physical security technology developments (including use of AI) and translate them into robust specifications and design decisions.
- Competence using design tools (e.g., AutoCAD) and interpreting technical drawings and construction documentation.
- Strong project delivery skills: scope management, stakeholder engagement, communication, problem solving, and quality control of deliverables.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills; able to communicate complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Prior consulting/advisory experience delivering work across multiple sectors (e.g., retail, hospitality, manufacturing, commercial and high-value residential environments) highly desirable.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PSP, CPP, or similar) are preferred.
Travel Requirement
Up to 50% travel across Europe and the Middle East, including site assessments and client workshops.
