This is a fixed-term role until 31 March 2027, working 18.75 hours per week, based at Attingham Park.

You'll work 2.5 days per week, with a working pattern of two weekdays and one in every four weekends. Weekend working is planned and shared in advance for the year. You'll be expected to work some bank holidays and evenings to help the property run smoothly at peak times.

What it’s like to work here

Attingham welcomes more than half a million visitors a year. Make no mistake, this is a busy and thriving place to be that is full of life and locally loved.

Whatever your role, you’ll play your part in helping us build relationships and make connections with our regular visitors, those new to Attingham, and those yet to visit, so we can keep Attingham a special place now, and for everyone, and for ever.

Built in 1785 and owned by the same family for five generations, today it is around 4,000 acres in size, and at its heart is a mansion, parkland, walled garden, play space, deer park and various food and beverage and retail outlets.

You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.

You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.

As a ranger at Attingham, you'll be involved in practical management and maintenance of the Deer Park and wider estate, as well as supporting the property team deliver exceptional visitor experience. You'll be responsible for supporting regular volunteers, placement students, and corporate and community volunteer groups throughout the year.

Your role will cover a broad range of countryside and estate tasks, including tree and woodland management, deer herd management, grassland, orchard and hedge management, and the inspection, upkeep and repair of paths, fences, gates, bridges, benches and play areas. You'll also be responsible for the safe use, maintenance and record keeping associated with a wide range of vehicles, machinery and equipment.
