About the role

We are looking for a Procurement Projects Manager to act as the enabler across our Direct and Indirect Procurement teams, ensuring the successful mobilisation and delivery of key procurement projects.

In this highly collaborative role, you will develop and manage procurement processes, governance, reporting, compliance, risk, and tools to support efficient and cost‑effective procurement operations. You will be central to the initiation and execution of procurement projects, ensuring the right resources, systems, and strategies are in place from the outset.

Your organisational strength, relationship‑building capability, and ability to influence across teams will be critical. Acting as the “eyes and ears” across procurement projects, you will ensure work is delivered in the right way, at the right time, and to the right standard—constructively challenging where needed to drive successful outcomes. With visibility across both Direct and Indirect teams, you will develop a holistic understanding of procurement activity across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Project Mobilisation
  • Develop and implement procurement mobilisation strategies aligned to organisational goals.

  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Category Managers, Business Partners, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.

  • Identify and allocate the resources required to successfully mobilise and deliver procurement projects.

  • Negotiate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maximise value for the business.

Supplier & Spend Management
  • Bring spend data to the forefront of decision‑making across Direct and Indirect projects.

  • Measure, manage, and optimise supplier performance against project objectives and milestones.

  • Build strong relationships with key suppliers to support timely, cost‑effective delivery.

Streamline and optimise supplier management systems to embed effective ways of working at site level.

Process Improvement & Governance
  • Analyse and optimise procurement processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Drive continuous improvement across the procurement team.

  • Oversee the implementation of procurement systems and technologies where required.

  • Identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

Performance, Compliance & Risk
  • Define and implement performance metrics and KPIs for procurement projects and teams.

  • Monitor and evaluate performance against agreed benchmarks.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Conduct regular internal audits and utilise supplier management information to assess and improve compliance levels.

Collaboration & Change Delivery
  • Work with OU Procurement Business Partners to deliver projects at country level, addressing local requirements to drive value and change.

  • Influence operational teams across the business to achieve project success and sustainable outcomes.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in Project Management, managing multiple projects against competing objectives.

  • Strong experience delivering commercial or procurement‑related projects within an operational environment.

  • Proven ability to influence operational teams and stakeholders to achieve project success.

  • End‑to‑end supplier management experience from mobilisation through to project completion, with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Experience using project management systems and data‑driven performance tracking.

Experience (Desirable)
  • Experience within a veterinary, healthcare, or similarly regulated environment.

Knowledge
  • Strong procurement management experience, with a particular focus on project mobilisation.

  • High level of commercial acumen; comfortable working with data, analysis, and constructive challenge.

  • Good operational understanding of how procurement supports business delivery.

  • Strong Supplier Relationship Management expertise.

Qualifications
  • PRINCE2 Project Management qualification (essential or strongly preferred).

Skills & Abilities
  • Goal‑focused mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.

  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, systems, and best‑practice approaches.

  • Excellent organisational, relationship management, and communication skills.

  • Strong influencing capability across procurement, operations, and the wider business.

Our offer:
  • Join a purpose‑driven company, where we’re striving to shape the future of veterinary care, together.
