Thames Valley Air Ambulance (TVAA) is one of the UK’s leading air ambulance charities. We’re here for people in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire when they need us most. Bringing hospital‑level care by land and air.
We exist to give everybody in our community the best chance of surviving and recovering from an emergency. Our mission is to do everything in our power to protect, save and revive lives, with the best critical care at the scene and beyond.
Our charity is a place where people care for each other, provide support, and encourage everyone to be their best. As an innovative charity, we are continually developing and pushing the boundaries of patient care. All our staff live our values: we care no matter what, we go above and beyond, we do the right thing and together, we are Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
The role will include flying single‑pilot HEMS operations on our EC135 helicopter normally with a 2‑person Critical Care Team, based at RAF Benson. Duties will include shifts, training and office duties, based on a 4 On/4 Off pattern. Further details are included in the Job Description.
HEMS Pilot roles are extremely demanding and, by regulation, require high levels of experience and the levels of independence and responsibility require the highest calibre of piloting, decision making, teamwork and captaincy skills. Our successful candidate will have all these qualities and more; they will also be highly committed to the wider aspects of the role representing TVAA to the public in the field, supporting their clinical colleagues, and assisting the fundraising and publicity activities of the Charity.
Working for TVAA in the Operations Division is a job like no other. With a wide range of situations to be managed and a clear importance on visible leadership, this role is essential in strengthening the organisation’s operational capability and therefore our ability to help patients wherever and whenever they need it.
The successful applicant will join in sufficient time to be line qualified in September 2026.
If this role sounds like it’s for you, we would love you to apply!
