Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Equine Veterinary Surgeon to join a large, friendly and experienced team of 22 vets at a well-established equine hospital. This role is predominantly ambulatory, with strong encouragement and support for developing individual clinical interests.

The position would suit a vet with two or more years’ equine experience who is keen to work in a collaborative environment while benefiting from outstanding hospital facilities and specialist support.

Role and Responsibilities

This is a first-opinion ambulatory role with the significant advantage of access to a fully equipped referral hospital. The successful candidate will manage routine ambulatory work while having the opportunity to follow up their own cases within the hospital, with senior support available whenever required. The practice places a strong emphasis on high clinical standards, excellent communication and teamwork. The role includes:

  • Routine first-opinion ambulatory work
  • Lameness and poor performance investigations
  • Advanced diagnostic and medical work-ups
  • The ability to develop specialist interests with structured support

Clinical development is actively encouraged, with mentorship available from senior colleagues and Diplomates in Surgery and Internal Medicine, alongside invaluable support from an experienced and dedicated nursing team in both ambulatory and hospital settings.

Facilities & Equipment

The practice is exceptionally well equipped, with access to:

  • Portable digital radiography
  • Ultrasonography
  • Endoscopy, including dynamic endoscopy
  • Gastroscopy
  • Scintigraphy
  • MRI

These facilities allow clinicians to deliver a high standard of care across a wide and interesting caseload.

Working Pattern
  • Shared 1-in-4 on-call rota
  • 4.5-day working week as standard
  • 5 days CPD, actively encouraged and supported
