Overview

Are you a qualified equine vet with a couple of years of experience eager to elevate your career while working with performance horses at every level? This well established Equine practice is excited to welcome an Ambulatory Assistant Veterinary Surgeon to the expanding team in Berkshire. Imagine working in a busy, independent ambulatory practice that caters to a diverse range of equine clients, from foals to elite athletes. The caseload is varied and stimulating, including Racing, FEI and National competition, World Class programmes, and a loyal base of sport and leisure clients. This is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to make a real impact in the equine community.

Responsibilities
  • Provide ambulatory veterinary care for a diverse range of equine clients, from foals to elite athletes, within a busy independent ambulatory practice in Berkshire.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team, including office staff and veterinary technicians, with a focus on high-quality patient care and professional growth.
  • Contribute to performance horse management at home and in competition, aligning with Racing, FEI and National programmes, World Class programmes where appropriate.
  • Support a positive work environment and participate in flexible rostering to maintain work‑life balance for the right candidate.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development with robust CPD opportunities, including ISELP support where appropriate.
Qualifications
  • 2–4 years of equine experience with confidence in core ambulatory skills.
  • Solid understanding of performance horse management, both at home and in competition.
  • A qualified Veterinary Surgeon and eligible to register with the RCVS.
  • Strong communication skills, a grounded approach, teamwork, and a positive, can-do attitude.
