A leading charitable organization in Bedlington seeks a Male Support Worker to provide personal care and support individuals with learning disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, mobility support, and emotional care. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for helping others. The role offers a competitive salary and a range of benefits, including paid holiday and discounts.
We are looking for a Full Time (37.5hrs) Male Support Worker for a Mencap service in Bedlington. This Mencap service provides support for two gentlemen with learning disabilities, one of whom has hemiplegia, a degenerative hip condition and epilepsy. They require a high level of personal care and regular moving and handling throughout the day. A driver would be preferred but is not essential. They use a mobility car and enjoy accessing the community throughout the week, and are visited by family about once a month. When at home, they enjoy watching sport and movies.
As a Support Worker, you will provide personal care, assist with daily activities, support community access, and deliver emotional support to ensure their well‑being and safety.
All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.
Due to the nature of this service, we are looking for male only applicants. This post is exempt under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1.
We are an equitable, diverse and inclusive organisation. We particularly welcome and encourage disabled applicants and those from Black and Asian communities to apply for the role as they are under‑represented within the workforce.
Here at Mencap, we offer an impressive range of benefits designed to support and reward our employees. Our benefits package includes 24 days of paid holiday (excluding bank holidays, pro rata), discounts at leading high‑street retailers, access to health cash plans, interest‑free loans and many more exciting offerings.
Salary ranges from £24,067 per annum (pro‑rata) to £26,768 per annum (pro‑rata), plus excellent benefits.
