Responsibilities

  • Conduct assigned matters, fixing strategy and liaising with clients.
  • Manage Assistants and support their development.

  • Attend conferences with Counsel and clients.
  • Handle routine correspondence.

Description

The Complex Disease Lawyer will handle own caseload of mixed diseases & complex cases within our Legacy department to manage and progress claims in accordance with appropriate strategies to secure desired outcomes at appropriate levels of profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Overall conduct of allocated matters fixing strategy and liaising directly with clients.
  • Responsibility for Assistants & their development.
  • Ensure adherence with court timetables by taking relevant actions/delegation of tasks as appropriate.
  • Ensuring experts are instructed in sufficient time by taking relevant actions/delegation of tasks as appropriate.
  • Attending conferences with Counsel and clients.
  • Dealing with routine correspondence.
  • Compliance with MI.
  • To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations.
  • Adhere to the Keoghs Values.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Technically proficient in dealing with a mixed disease caseload including long tail disease and short tail disease.
  • Experience of dealing with the Claims Portal as well as Fast, Intermediate and Multi Track litigation including cases in the High Court.
  • Effective negotiator.
  • Ability to use own initiative.
  • Good listening and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organise, delegate & prioritise.
  • Good level of IT skills.
