A local charity organization is seeking a Trustee with legal expertise to enhance its governance and strategic leadership. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in commercial and charity law, with excellent communication skills to guide the charity in compliance with relevant laws. We are looking for Trustee applicants with strong knowledge of commercial law, governance and risk management and preferably experience in charity law who can balance strategic thinking with attention to detail. Job Description: Trustee with Legal Expertise
The Trustee will contribute to the effective governance and strategic leadership of the organisation, ensuring compliance with charity and company law and requires active collaboration with senior leadership, board committees and a broad range of stakeholders.
Candidates must demonstrate deep commitment to the charity’s mission and significant legal expertise to support with legal matters and help manage risk.
Legal oversight and stewardship
This appointment requires a commitment to Rennie Grove Peace Hospice Care to attend quarterly early evening meetings of the Board of Trustees and serve on at least one Board committee (Governance Committee), with additional meetings as required.
In addition to attending meetings, trustees will need to make time to read and evaluate papers. All our trustees are encouraged to actively participate and engage in external events and networking to represent and promote the charity, where requested.
Appointments are usually for a term of three years with the possibility of two further three-year extensions by mutual agreement up to a maximum term of nine years.
This is a voluntary, unpaid trustee role. Reasonable expenses incurred in the course of duties will be reimbursed in line with the charity’s policy.
