Job summary

A leading energy solutions provider in the United Kingdom is seeking an individual to join their Operations & Maintenance team at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station. The successful candidate will manage maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and delivering quality service. Responsibilities include planning maintenance routines and resolving technical issues. Candidates should have an HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and strong IT and communication skills. Job description
Overview

You will be a part of the Operations & Maintenance team at Hunterston HVDC Converter Station, an HVDC Interconnector capable of transferring 2250 MW of power between Scotland and North Wales. Your role involves providing customer support through planned and reactive maintenance activities on customer assets as per our contractual requirements, planning and carrying out work efficiently and safely, and ensuring all records are kept up to date.

How You’ll Make An Impact
  • Ensure compliance with Work Specifications, Local Management Instructions, statutory requirements and Health & Safety policies.
  • Conduct safety monitoring of Siemens Energy and contractor staff.
  • Plan and implement maintenance routines for all plant and equipment within the contract scope.
  • Develop processes to enhance service quality for customers and maintain a safe working environment through reliable documentation.
  • Plan daily work, anticipate problems and maintain high standards of quality and time.
  • Investigate and resolve faults, prepare reports and ensure all maintenance documentation is completed in the Maintenance Management System.
What You Bring
  • Preferably holding an HNC/HND qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with experience in maintenance environments, industrial sites or electrical substations.
  • Good understanding of electrical systems and practical experience with electrical and mechanical installations.
  • Capacity to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in IT literacy, including MS Office and MS Project.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk management processes.

  • 37‑hour working week: Mon – Thur 08:00 – 16:30, Fri 08:00 – 13:00.
  • Emergency call‑out response as part of a rotating standby rota for one site.
