Senior/Experienced Social Worker within Children Looked After in Taunton, UK, £41 per hour. Ongoing contract, full-time position available now! What you will do
  • Undertake direct work with children and families to support significant life changes.
  • Develop and implement care pathways for children looked after.
  • Act as an advocate for children in various judicial proceedings.
  • Establish and maintain positive multi‑agency working relationships.
  • Create reports and maintain records using LiquidLogic.
  • Liaise effectively with residential care providers and contribute to reviews and audits.
  • Work alongside team members in‑office and manage independent tasks in a hybrid model.
What we’re looking for
  • Qualified and experienced social worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Substantial experience working in children and family services within a local authority team, particularly within leaving care.
  • Creative yet pragmatic approach to practice and proven leadership experience.
  • Experience in residential care and supporting looked‑after children, with familiarity with relevant regulations.
  • Direct experience as a Registered Service Manager within residential or supported accommodation (advantage).
  • Competency in IT, particularly in using systems like LiquidLogic.
  • Full driving licence and access to own vehicle.

At Somerset, hybrid working is offered. Some tasks can be performed from home, but living within proximity to our Shepton Mallet office is necessary to spend quality time with your team.
