A leading outdoor activities provider in Hertfordshire is seeking a proactive Activities Team Lead to ensure smooth operations for customers, managing outdoor activities and maintaining high levels of service. Candidates should be qualified in Kayaking or Ropes, possess strong outdoor skills, and be effective communicators. The contract is for 6 months with potential extension, offering flexible working hours including weekends and evenings.

Salary: £13,500 for 6 months / £27,000 - £33,321 per year depending on experience

To be responsible for ensuring the customer’s day visit or residential stay runs smoothly.
Starting location will be either Phasels Wood Activity Centre, Kings Langley or Tolmers Activity Centre, Cuffley. Role may have work across other Hertfordshire sites dependent on work tasks.
Hours will be flexible in order to meet the needs of the job, which may include weekends and evenings.
Transport: Own transport required (limited public transport access)
The Team Lead position will suit a customer focussed individual who enjoys working outdoors directly with adults and children. You would be qualified in Kayaking and/or Ropes and have strong instructor-based skills. You will be a proactive team player who is able to share your existing knowledge and eager to learn new skills.
The Team Lead role is key to ensuring our customers have the best possible time whilst they are with us. You will be responsible for ensuring the customer’s day visit or residential stay runs smoothly, that activities are prepped, delivered and cleared away appropriately and that you provide an approachable & professional point of contact for the customer. The customers range from Scouts Leaders and teachers with varying levels of activity centre knowledge, to groups of confident young adults to nervous first timers. The Team Lead role needs to be consistent in the service we offer but tailor it to your customer group.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for communicating with the Experience Managers and ensuring the Activity Instructors & International Volunteers know what they are doing each day and that their tasks are carried out with customer service, compliance and health & safety in mind at all times.
You will be mostly occupied with customers and running the activities, plus assisting in the kitchens or with the housekeeping dependent on what is required. There will also be equipment maintenance and admin tasks to undertake during quieter times.
1 x 6 month fixed contract and 1 x 12 month contract (option to extend)
1040 hours for 6 months or 2080 hours/year
