Romford Town Swimming Club (RTSC) in Essex is seeking an energetic, inspiring and organised Head Coach to lead our coaching and Learn to Swim (LTS) teaching teams, oversee swimmer development across all pathways (LTS and squads), and drive the Club forward.

About the Club

RTSC is a SwimMark-accredited, inclusive club based in Essex with a long and successful history. We are ambitious for our swimmers and proud of our community, working to maximise potential through enjoyment of swimming while maintaining high standards and strong results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction across all club programmes, including LTS, development and performance squads.
  • Coach the Performance Squads: plan sessions, monitor progress, set individual goals and provide feedback.
  • Develop and oversee seasonal training plans and squad structures, including clear criteria and processes for swimmer progression.
  • Plan and manage the club competition calendar, including meet selection, League participation and attendance at competitions.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the coaching and LTS teams, including regular meetings, constructive feedback and performance reviews.
  • Ensure poolside standards and discipline are maintained in line with club policies and Swim England Wavepower.
  • Manage coaching/teaching cover and staffing allocations across all sessions (including competitions), working within agreed budgets.
  • Maintain accurate attendance registers, emergency contact details and timely accident/incident reporting.
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers, parents and the Committee; provide reports as required (including AGM input).
  • Be an ambassador for RTSC and support the promotion and delivery of club events and open meets.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Swim England/UKCC Level 2 Swimming Coach (or equivalent), with willingness to work towards Senior Coach if not already held.
  • Proven coaching experience with a track record of developing swimmers and building positive training habits.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to develop swimming technique across all strokes and skills.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills.
  • Ability to lead, mentor and support trainee/assistant coaches and teachers.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Computer literacy and confidence with basic administration (attendance, communication, planning).
