Job description

At Tesco, people are at the heart of everything we do, and this couldn’t be truer for our pharmacy team. As a Duty Pharmacy Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on others’ lives. Whether you’re supporting pharmacists, providing top‑notch services to customers, or fostering community spirit, your work will touch the lives of hundreds of people every day.

About the role

We want to help you be at your best, wherever life takes you. That’s why we offer you uninterrupted “me time” away from the pharmacy to relax, refuel, and recharge. In addition, you’ll receive career development opportunities with industry‑led training plans, and you’ll have the chance to shape how we improve our services.

Responsibilities
  • Supply prescriptions, deliver NHS and private services, and provide healthcare advice to customers.
  • Play an active role in the charities support programme, giving advice to people in the community at risk of or living with cancer, heart disease, and diabetes.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager to lead, train, and develop colleagues.
  • Support the Pharmacy Manager in building relationships with Primary Care Networks and GP surgeries.
  • Ensure accurate payment claims for NHS‑covered items.
Requirements
  • Have a Pharmacy Degree.
  • Be passionate about leading and empowering a team.
  • Be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and be willing to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme – we’ll assist you with this when you’re offered the role.
  • Complete a DBS check (organised by us) before employment.
What's in it for you?

Our pharmacies are led and supported exclusively by pharmacists; we’re always looking to develop new ways to deliver the best service possible for our communities.

  • GPhC fee covered by us, every year.
  • Holiday starting at 25 days plus a personal day (plus Bank holidays).
  • Buy holiday salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Savings of up to £2,000 a year on most Tesco purchases.
  • Annual bonus – up to 20% of annual salary.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
  • 26 weeks maternity and adoption leave (after 1 year’s service) at full pay, followed by 13 weeks of Statutory Maternity Pay or Statutory Adoption Pay, plus 4 weeks fully paid paternity leave.
  • Right to request flexible working from your first day with us.
  • A pharmacy training programme exclusive to Tesco, in partnership with Diabetes UK, Cancer Research UK and British Heart Foundation.
  • A structured training plan for Pharmacy Leadership, crafted by industry specialists.
  • Great colleague discounts that save you money on everyday purchases.
  • Expert support through the application process for the new UK health and social care visa.
  • Access to colleague networks providing a space for colleagues to come together from a range of backgrounds.
