Overview
Drainage Engineer – Guildford at Neighbourly®. Role involves attending domestic and commercial sites, investigating wastewater works, identifying issues, and providing appropriate solutions and recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaising with commercial and domestic customers on site.
- Delivering professional customer service and engaging with customers effectively.
- Investigating and diagnosing issues via site surveys.
- Advising customers on solutions and implementing them, including:
- Drain clearance
- De-scaling and root cutting
- Performing minor excavations and patch lining
- Preventative maintenance
- Using high‑pressure water jetters, CCTV survey equipment and rods
- Identifying potential concerns and recommending additional work
- Interpreting drainage drawings and working independently within areas of expertise
- Reviewing and adherings to RAMS before commencing work
- Identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring health and safety compliance
- Driving brand awareness through professional appearance and technical knowledge
- Sharing knowledge and best practice with colleagues
- Supporting Regional Development Managers for regional success
- Resolving operational, performance, or compliance issues within the territory to safeguard the brand’s reputation
- Ensuring compliance with current legislation and regulations
- Establishing urgency to complete tasks efficiently and accurately, underpinned by strong KPIs
- Any other reasonable duty within capabilities
Qualifications and Skills
- 1 year’s experience in the drainage sector (preferred)
- Ideally 1 year’s plumbing experience
- Technical expertise in drainage and related functions
- Drainage tanker experience (preferred)
- Full clean UK driving license with travel flexibility
- CSCS card holder (preferred)
- Able to use a mobile phone, CRM applications, and related tools
Skills / Knowledge
- Background in drainage engineering
- High-pressure water jetting (HPWJ) certification
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- DBS check as part of onboarding
- Ability to work on an on-call rota providing a 24-hour service
