MWI, owned by AmerisourceBergen, operates in the US and UK, supporting customers with:

  • Wholesale Services – Veterinary pharmaceuticals and supplies via temperature-controlled fleet, warehouses, and online store.
  • Practice Management Technology (Merlin) – Web/mobile solutions supporting veterinary workflows from warehousing to patient management.

Role Overview

As a DevOps Engineer, you'll join the Cloud Engineering team to design, build, and operate infrastructure in Azure Cloud. You will collaborate with engineering and support teams to enhance scalability, reliability, and speed to market. Our teams are distributed across the UK, with offices in Camberley and Castle Cary. This is a primarily remote role with occasional visits to offices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cloud platform strategies aligning with business goals.
  • Ensure infrastructure design and changes follow best practices for security and architecture.
  • Design and implement cloud solutions using automation and coding.
  • Use orchestration and automation to improve efficiency.
  • Analyze operational issues through logs, metrics, and traces for root cause analysis.
  • Configure, maintain, and document Azure cloud components.
  • Monitor security and perform security analyses with automated tools.
  • Patch and maintain Windows systems, transitioning to Linux where applicable.
  • Update operational procedures for platform management.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations.

Requirements

  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) in operational roles.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure services and best practices.
  • Knowledge of DevOps technologies: Infrastructure-as-Code, Containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD, automation tools like Terraform and PowerShell.
  • Strong networking knowledge (IP, virtual networks, security).
  • Understanding of observability principles and SLOs/SLIs.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Operational experience supporting production applications.
  • Familiarity with incident management and monitoring tools.
  • Understanding of security principles, GDPR, penetration testing.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Go).
  • Experience with data engineering, containerization (Docker), and CI solutions (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Security certifications and vulnerability management experience.
  • Experience with SSO products like Auth Zero or SAP Giyga.
