About the Role:
We are hiring high-impact Developers / Senior Developers to join our core product teams in the Doncaster hub. You will be placed at the heart of the customer journey, managing the secure, high-volume systems that power Payments, Delivery, and Customer Registration for one of the largest online retail platforms in the UK. Your code will directly handle millions of transactions, supporting over 10 million active customers across more than 150 international sites.
While you’ll have heard our name, there’s a lot you probably don’t know about NEXT. We create nearly all of our systems ourselves—from our massive global eCommerce website to mobile apps and internal applications. We are growing fast, and that growth is creating exciting opportunities for engineers to build and own systems at massive retail scale.
About the team:
We are hiring across the Online Ordering Product Group, which sits at the heart of the customer journey, managing critical areas from the moment a customer chooses an item to the point of purchase and account management.
You will join 1 of 3 high-impact, cross-functional teams in our Doncaster hub, each with a focused mission:
The role:
You will be a key player in our multi-year strategic programme to refactor core monolith functionality into modern, cloud-native services. This role is not just maintenance; it is platform engineering at retail scale, requiring an active contribution to technical design, architecture review, and the implementation of resilient, highly-available systems in Azure.
We are looking for enthusiastic, hardworking team players to join us as a Developer. You will be key in injecting energy and driving the quality of execution across our product group.
You will work on highly visible features as part of cross-functional projects. This involves engaging with complex, mixed codebases - from legacy monoliths to modern, cloud-based architectures. This role requires pace, technical expertise, and a can‑do attitude to meet hard deadlines and deliver high-impact, performant features.
Key Responsibilities:
You’ll be doing all this from our office in Doncaster. A fast‑paced, encouraging and supportive environment in which everyone brings an energy and a commitment to delivering for our customers and their own careers.
Our Product‑led teams operate with a high degree of autonomy. Developers own the full lifecycle of their features, from technical design and code review to automated deployment and production monitoring (DevOps culture). You will be empowered to drive the technical direction of your specific product area.
Your Career Trajectory: With new roles across 3 complex, mission‑critical product areas, we provide a clearly defined and measurable path to Senior Developer, Lead Developer and beyond. Your diverse exposure to Payments, Delivery, and Registration logic offers exceptional opportunities for rapid technical specialisation and career advancement within the wider Online Ordering Group.
