A health service provider in the UK is seeking a qualified Dentist to join their Public Dental Service. This full-time position involves providing patient care in a salaried dental practice setting, with a focus on oral surgery. Opportunities for continuous professional development and support are available in a welcoming community environment. Salary ranges from £54,117 to £81,174, with additional allowances and benefits.
We have a fantastic opportunity for a qualified dentist to join our busy Public Dental Service, working in a salaried dental practice setting within modern and well‑equipped surgeries. This is an excellent opportunity to join an evolving remote and rural dental team, with a strong focus on patient‑centred care and continuous improvement.
We will require you to cover clinical requirements across NHS Shetland PDS Service, providing care in different clinical settings and experiencing a wide range of patient demographics and needs.
Specifically, this role would suit a colleague with oral surgery experience who would like to expand and develop that experience by working directly with the visiting consultant‑led OMFS service.
With support from the SDO and Director of Dentistry, you will participate in a programme of supported CPD and have opportunities to formally develop additional skills and interests if desired.
Shetland is a great place to live and to work, offering a strong and welcoming community spirit, a safe environment for children, excellent schools and first‑rate transport links to the rest of the UK.
Role Position: Dental Officer (Ref: 233393)
Full Time – 37.5 hours per week. Fixed Term with Substantive Option.
For an informal discussion, please contact Antony Visocchi, Dental Director, NHS Shetland on 01595 743000 ext 3043 or e‑mail antony.visocchi@nhs.scot.
Closing date: 01/02/26
Interview date: Interviews to be held on Microsoft Teams w/c 09/02/26
Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
In promoting equal opportunities, we welcome applications from all sections of the community.
