Company Description

Mearns FM is the only dedicated radio station serving South Aberdeenshire, broadcasting on DAB, FM frequencies (105.1, 105.7, 106.2, and 107.3), Online, and via the Radioplayer app. The station connects with the community by offering a diverse range of programming and music. Listeners can engage and interact with the station through Social Media, text or email, ensuring their voices are heard. At Mearns FM, the focus is on providing high‑quality local radio content that resonates with the audience.

Role Description

This is a volunteer role based in Portlethen, with flexibility to work from home. As a Radio Presenter, your responsibilities will include hosting live shows, presenting music and segments, engaging with the audience, and ensuring smooth broadcasting operations. You'll assist in content planning, collaborate on creative ideas, and work closely with the production team to deliver high‑quality programming tailored to the local audience.

Qualifications
  • Experience as a Radio Host, Presenter, or in Broadcasting
  • Understanding of radio operation and management
  • Knowledge and passion for Music and its role in radio programming
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with the audience
  • Ability to adapt to both in‑studio and remote working environments
  • Familiarity with broadcast equipment and basic technical troubleshooting is a plus
  • Previous experience in a community‑focused or radio environment is beneficial

Mearns FM is a not for profit organisation and as such no presenters are paid for their shows with us. There is a small membership fee which is payable monthly after successful training is completed with Mearns FM.
