Job Overview:

Are you a passionate and creative Dance Teacher with a flair for choreography and a love for inspiring young dancers? We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic teacher to join our small and friendly Dance Academy, working primarily with our competition team teaching private lessons.

This job is a self‑employed freelance role.

We operate term time only and follow the Sheffield City Council school holidays. Holiday clubs could be organised if the candidate wishes during any holidays.

About the Role:

Day: Wednesdays (term time only)
Students: Ages 6–teenage competition dancers and one age 6-8 Ballet and Tap class
Styles: Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, and Modern.
Main focus: Choreographing and polishing competition dances (mainly solos). Additional hours, cover work and holiday club opportunities available for the right person.

Requirements:
  • Enhanced DBS Check – must be current (to be obtained at your own cost if not already in place)
  • Own Public Liability Insurance (must be current and valid)
  • Up‑to‑date First Aid Training (to be arranged at your own cost if not held)
  • Confident and experienced in choreographing original, creative, and up‑to‑date routines
  • Strong ability to work with young dancers, encouraging both technical skill and performance quality
  • Knowledge of the IDTA syllabus or an IDTA Theatre qualification is highly desirable
