Enhanced DBS Check

Permanent | Term Time

36 hours per week. Term Time + 1 Week.

We are seeking a Cover Supervisor to join our support staff team. This role is term time only + 1 week.

Previous experience in education is not essential, but this role may suit someone who is thinking about a career in teaching and would like some school experience. Alternatively, you may be someone who is phasing out of their teaching career, who may enjoy the freedom a role as a Cover Supervisor brings.

You will contribute positively to pupil behaviour and learning by being responsible for the supervision of classes to cover short-term staff absence. You will also provide general classroom support, assist with exam invigilation and perform general administration duties as and when required.

Applicants should be confident, well organised and efficient with excellent communication skills. Drapers’ Academy is a vibrant place to work, and we are an ambitious school with high expectations of our staff and pupils.

If you have the drive, enthusiasm and determination to ensure our pupils are successful, then our school is right for you.

Drapers’ Academy has much to offer:
  • Summer 2024: Best ever GCSE and A Level results
  • Nationally recognised GCSE progress
  • Assessed as Good in all areas of inspection by Ofsted in March 2025
  • A clear vision to deliver high standards of education and serve our community
  • State‑of‑the‑art campus surrounded by acres of countryside
  • Committed, generous sponsors: The Drapers' Company and Queen Mary University
  • Fully subscribed through the school
  • An environment that promotes innovation
  • Opportunities to teach across KS3, 4 and 5
  • Committed and supportive Senior Leadership Team
  • Proactive staff‑led Wellbeing Team
  • Our own 6th Form area dedicated to A Level teaching
  • Staff access to our gym
  • Close proximity to the M25 (Junction 28, Brentwood) and the A12 for ease of access from London, Kent, Essex or Hertfordshire and ample secure on‑site parking
  • Short bus journey from Harold Wood train station and Elizabeth line tube station

It is our practice to recruit staff to permanent positions via direct application rather than agency placement.

We welcome staff who wish to visit the school in advance of application. To arrange this, please contactslucey@drapersacademy.com

Closing date: 9.00am on Monday, 26th January 2026. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early upon appointment of a successful candidate.

Drapers’ Multi‑Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments are subject to enhanced DBS clearance, an online check, and other relevant employment checks.

Safeguarding

Havering Schools are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The protection of our pupils from abuse is the responsibility of all staff within our schools, superseding any other considerations. Therefore Havering Schools comply with the Department for Education ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidance.

It is an offence to apply for a post which involves engaging in regulated activity relevant to children if you are barred from doing so. Please be advised that, again in line with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, shortlisted candidates (who wish to accept an invite to interview) will be required to submit, prior to their interview, a self‑declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. Upon submission of this information, online checks may be carried out.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; the successful applicant will be expected to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure check. Having a criminal record will not necessarily debar you from obtaining a position with the School.

Equal Opportunities

Havering Schools aim to promote and ensure equality of opportunity and equal treatment for all. We are committed to equal opportunities in employment regardless of gender, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origins, disabilities, age, sexual orientation, responsibility for dependants, religious or political affiliation and trade union activities. All matters related to employment are decided on the basis of qualifications, merit and business need.
