At Aviva, we are on an exciting mission to make things simpler for our Cloud Platform consumers and our customers, by building an excellent service that’s low on consumer effort and high on satisfaction. Cloud is fundamental to this mission and we’re looking for someone to lead this new function with us!

A bit about the job:

This role will sit within Hosting and Service Platforms, reporting to the Cloud Enablement Lead. You will be working to support our Cloud Platform consumers onboard quickly, utilise known patterns and constructs & provide subject matter expertise across AWS, Azure & Container platforms. This is a fantastic opportunity that will provide you with a variety of work, supporting all of our Cloud Platform consumers by developing and enhancing our Cloud capabilities.

You’ll be at the forefront of delivering expertise, IaC (Infrastructure as Code) & assurance to market development teams while also working with peers in the Cloud Platform teams to improve service & automation for the best developer experience possible.

Additionally, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of Cloud Engineers. As the team leader, you will be expected to guide your engineers through complex technical challenges, mentor them in career development and foster a collaborative culture. You will be expected to set clear objectives, delegate tasks appropriately based on individual strengths and facilitate regular communication within the team to keep everyone aligned. Monitoring progress, providing constructive feedback and managing performance reviews are also crucial elements of this leadership role. Furthermore, you will serve as the main point of contact between your team and other departments, ensuring smooth project delivery and resource coordination.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
  • Proficient in delivering Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for provisioning, Ansible for configuration management, Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines, and Azure DevOps for end-to-end automation.
  • Extensive experience with AWS/Azure services including Cloud architectural principles such as Well Architected frameworks.
  • Skilled in developing and enhancing cloud capabilities, providing subject matter expertise, and troubleshooting complex cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Adept at utilising known patterns and blueprints to streamline consumer onboarding processes and ensure efficient cloud resource management.
  • Fantastic stakeholder engagement, you will be able to work with, understand and translate complex challenges/requirements into deliveries for your team.
What you’ll get for this role:

Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too. And one of the ways we live up to that promise is by investing in you. We have so much to offer when it comes to being an Aviva colleague.
