Location: Middlesbrough College Main Campus, TS2 1AD

Department: Estates

Reporting to: Safety & Building Services Manager

Salary: £8,531 - £8,921 per annum (actual salary)

Contractual hours: 16 hours per week, 38 weeks per annum

Basis: Term Time, Permanent

Pension: NEST

Join our dedicated Facilities team at Middlesbrough College, where we take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors. We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Cleaning Operative to deliver high‑quality cleaning services across multiple buildings on our campus, ensuring all areas meet agreed hygiene and safety standards. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, works well independently as well as part of a team, and is committed to supporting a positive learning environment.

This role works on a shift basis, Mondays – Thursdays, 06:00-09:00 and Fridays 06:00-10:00.

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a cleaning operative you will:

  • Clean areas and surfaces to specifications in a timely manner.
  • Service toilet areas including replenishing supplies.
  • Clear and remove rubbish and other items from areas as detailed by the site specification and ensure the security of all areas at completion of duties.
  • Maintain stocks of cleaning materials, order from suppliers where required and to control the usage of materials ensuring the cleaning cupboard is kept tidy at all times.
  • Report any problems on site to the supervisor so they may be rectified immediately.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Knowledge of Risk Assessments
  • Knowledge of COSSH
  • Experience of working within a client facing environment.
  • Experience of providing cleaning services within public areas.
