Job summary

A leading electricity utility provider in Northern Ireland seeks an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer. The ideal candidate will have at least four years' experience in the construction industry, and hold a BEng (Hons) or MEng, capable of leading major engineering projects. Strong knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards is required. Additionally, proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD and solid IT skills are essential. A valid UK driving license is also necessary for business use.

Qualifications

It is essential that the successful candidate meets the following requirements.

  • A minimum of four years' post‑graduate design office experience within the utility / construction industry.
  • BEng (Hons) or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering, accredited by a recognised UK/European professional body, or an equivalent qualification, with proven competence to work to UK and / or European standards and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and delivering the design of major civil or structural engineering projects.
  • A sound working knowledge of Eurocodes, British Standards, and CDM Regulations, including the responsibilities of the Principal Designer.
  • Clear understanding of and commitment to industry safety rules for work on electricity networks (such as NIE Networks' rules or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in engineering design software packages such as AutoCAD and Autodesk.
  • Strong IT skills, including advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Project.
  • A current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
