Job summary

Job description

On behalf of our client, NRL Recruitment are looking for a Caretaker for work based in Ellesmere Port.

Duration: Asap start until 27.02.2026

Location: Ellesmere Port CH65 0BA

Hours of Work: Week 1 06:30-14:30, Week 2 11:30-19:30

You must be able to drive. A works van will be issued but will remain on site.

What We’re Looking For:
  • A hands-on, practical approach to building maintenance and security.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to support out-of-hours events when required.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and service.
Main Responsibilities:
  • The jobholder must ensure that council buildings are prepared, operational and all security arrangements in place for the arrival and departure of staff, Members and visitors.
  • The jobholder is to carry out all portering duties including checking of fire and alarm systems in all operational buildings and to assist in fire evacuations.
  • Monitoring of staff car parks including the checking of validity of staff passes.
  • To ensure all stocks and provisions are maintained throughout Council buildings.
  • Carry out basic maintenance duties using various light hand tools and carry out daily building checks and reporting them through CAFM system.
  • Carry out basic Maintenance activities such as weekly flushing of water outlets.
  • Meet and liaise with contractors and Engineers on site.
  • Prepare meeting rooms in readiness for meetings and functions, ensuring that equipment is in good working order.
  • Take part in out of hours ceremonial occasions at Chester Town Hall, Uniform will be provided.
  • Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Account Manager/Workplace Solutions Supervisor from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job and in any location within the borough of Cheshire West and Chester.
