Job description

To supplement our permanent Portering team, our team of bank staff provides cover for planned and unplanned shortfalls in staffing, covering vacancies and staff absences. We are now seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and proactive Bank Porter to provide operational cover within the hospice as part of our Facilities team, as and when required.

£12.50 per hour
Ad Hoc, flexible working hours

The role:

Working in a busy hospice environment, the role will support the effective running of our Portering team during periods of staff leave, absences and during busy periods. The post holder will undertake a varied role as well as security within the hospice. This may include collection and delivery of goods, monitoring all areas of the hospice for faults, issues etc., ensuring the exterior of the hospice is kept safe, clean and presentable, carrying out security checks and making sure points of entry are all secured as required. The Porter role also includes the transportation of patients, clinical packages and supplies to and from the hospice.

What you need:

We are looking for someone with experience in a similar role, with some maintenance and health and safety knowledge. The postholder must hold a full, clean driving licence. You must be able to work well in a team and have good interpersonal and communication skills, along with a non-judgmental and empathetic approach. You must be flexible in order to cover the needs of a 24/7 service and a commitment to the vision and values of Bolton Hospice are essential. Experience of dealing with security issues would be an advantage.
