A cloud transformation consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior SQL Database Architect who can design, migrate, and modernise SQL database solutions into Microsoft Azure. This role involves leading SQL Server migrations, architecting Azure SQL solutions, and providing governance on cloud projects. Ideal candidates should have over 10 years in IT and significant experience with SQL Server and Azure. The role is remote, located in the UK, and includes stakeholder engagement and technical leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in IT with deep SQL Server expertise.
• 5+ years hands-on experience migrating SQL databases to Azure.
• Strong knowledge of Azure-based database services and migration patterns.
• Ability to work closely with stakeholders and present technical solutions clearly.
• NV1 or higher security clearance required.

Are you an experienced SQL Database Architect with deep expertise in migrating complex SQL environments into Microsoft Azure? Our client is expanding their cloud transformation capability across the APAC region and are seeking a senior specialist who’s passionate about designing, migrating and modernising enterprise‑grade database solutions in the cloud.

As a Senior SQL Database Architect, you will play a key role in planning, delivering and governing end‑to‑end SQL database migration projects into Azure.

Position responsibilities:

• Assess customer SQL Server environments and develop tailored Azure migration strategies
• Lead and execute SQL Server migrations using tools such as Azure Migrate, DMA, DMS, Azure Data Studio, log shipping, and backup/restore methods
• Architect, configure and optimise Azure SQL solutions, including HA/DR (FCI, AG) across multi‑region deployments
• Implement Azure governance, security, policies, and Key Vault integration
• Drive large‑scale cloud solutioning activities and provide technical leadership to delivery teams

Position requirements:

• 5+ years hands‑on experience migrating SQL databases to Azure
