Role overview
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager with strong leadership and communication abilities to guide their team towards achieving sales and KPI targets whilst providing unrivalled service.
Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager in effectively running all store operations to meet or exceed sales and KPI targets. Set clear sales goals, track performance, and evolve processes to ensure continuous store growth.
- Create a positive team culture through recruiting, training, and continuously developing staff. Build a motivated, high-performing team to increase the chances of store success.
- Analyse sales data and financial reports to make quick, well-informed decisions alongside the Store Manager, identifying and responding to opportunities—operationally and commercially.
- Act as the point of contact for colleagues in the manager’s absence.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints professionally.
- Help manage day-to-day operations, including opening and closing procedures.
- Support cash management tasks, such as processing transactions and reconciling tills.
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
- Provide feedback and coaching to colleagues to improve performance.
- Support the Store Manager in maintaining colleague schedules to ensure proper coverage and productivity.
Role objectives and KPI’s
- Contribute to achieving or exceeding the store’s monthly sales target.
- Drive all additional KPIs including, but not limited to, Units, Conversion, ATV, and UPT.
- Achieve upselling or cross-selling targets.
- Maintain a high Net Promoter Score.
- Ensure stock accuracy during store audits.
- Ensure all new colleagues complete mandatory training.
- Ensure employee engagement results meet or exceed company benchmarks.
- Assist in keeping operational costs within the allocated budget.
Skills and Experience
- Previous supervisory or management experience in a fast-paced retail/customer-facing environment.
- Passionate about retail with a good understanding of latest trends and competitors.
- Experience coaching and developing individuals.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets and KPIs.
- Experience in analysing KPI data to make commercial decisions.
- Keen eye for detail and commerciality; previous experience in visual merchandising is advantageous.
