Job description

As a Team Lead at Kainos, you will be responsible for leading an agile team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet client and user needs. You will create a positive and creative culture, fostering a productive working environment. You will empower and support your team to perform well, learn, and grow in line with Kainos values. Your role includes foreseeing and removing blockers, managing risks and issues at the team level, and working closely with other Agile Team Leads and stakeholders to ensure the team works on the right priorities under the guidance of a Delivery Manager. You may also take on broader management responsibilities beyond the agile team and contribute to management capabilities. Experience in bespoke software delivery within an agile environment for external clients is essential.

The Successful Candidate Will
  • Establish ways of working enabling an agile team to plan, forecast, and deliver against a product backlog.
  • Model collaborative behaviours, agile values, and professionalism.
  • Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement initiatives, applying industry best practices.
  • Manage, coach, and develop team members, focusing on performance management.
  • Provide data, forecasts, and progress updates for planning.
  • Facilitate workshops to understand and capture requirements.
  • Build constructive and collaborative relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure stakeholders have access to current, accurate data and that quality standards are maintained.
  • Support the Delivery Manager to ensure projects meet outcomes within budget.
  • Be flexible and willing to work away from home as needed.
  • Communicate persuasively and negotiate effectively.
  • Have practical experience in agile software delivery projects.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate experience in managing, coaching, and developing team members.
  • Facilitate workshops and stakeholder discussions.
  • Maintain effective delivery during remote working periods.
Desirable Skills
  • Understanding of technology, digital services, and trends.
  • Experience with user research, design, and data analytics.
  • Commercial awareness in client-supplier environments and financial understanding of projects.
  • Knowledge of planning and reporting methods in project delivery.
