The Procurement Team at Barnsley Facilities Services is seeking an organised and detail-focused individual to support the delivery of an effective and efficient non-clinical procurement service. The post holder will play a key role in supporting the non-clinical team and the wider procurement function.

You will take lead responsibility for purchasing non-clinical goods and services, ensuring Barnsley Hospital NHS FT receives a responsive, value-for-money supply service in line with the Trusts Standing Financial Instructions.

Applicants must have previous purchasing or customer service experience, with applications welcomed from both the public and private sectors. The successful candidate will bring energy, professionalism, and a strong customer focus to the role.

The ideal candidate will:

Be proactive, organised, and highly detail-oriented

Be a strong team player, able to work collaboratively and support colleagues to achieve shared objectives

Have strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

Be computer literate, with experience of using a range of IT and procurement systems, and the ability to learn new systems as required

Provide advice and guidance to staff to ensure compliance with procurement legislation, Trust SFIs, and contracting procedures

Main duties of the job

The role of the Procurement Department is to provide customers with a high quality and responsive purchasing and supply chain management service whilst promoting best value for money for the organisations non-pay spend.

The Procurement Department provides the following services:

A) Supply Chain Management Service

The Department is responsible for the management of all in bound goods, with the exception of Estates items and certain Pharmaceutical lines, from receipt to point of delivery. The Department also provides a materials management service to all Wards and Clinical Areas ensuring that day to day consumables are available as required.

B) Category Management Service

The Department is responsible for ensuring that the Trust non-pay spend is appropriately managed through the award of contracts for goods and services in accordance with the Trusts Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions.

C) An Operational Buying Service

The Department provides an operational buying service for all Wards and Departments within the Trust ensuring that purchase orders are raised and managed in a timely manner. The Department also offers advice and support to end users.
