Job description

MCS Group is seeking an experienced Senior European Energy Policy Analyst to join our client's Strategy & Sustainability team at a time of transformation within the energy sector.

This role plays a key part in tracking, analysing and interpreting European energy policy, ensuring organisational compliance with EU network codes and regulations, and providing clear insights on the implications for Northern Ireland and the Single Electricity Market. You will lead engagement with government departments, regulators and industry stakeholders, and coordinate activity across European energy bodies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and assessing European energy policy, regulations and network codes
  • Ensuring compliance and maintaining robust governance and reporting processes
  • Providing strategic insight on future policy impacts
  • Leading external stakeholder engagement on EU energy matters
  • Supporting cross‑organisational collaboration and mentoring junior team members
Essential Criteria
  • Degree in engineering, business, economics, finance, or a closely related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar multidisciplinary role
  • Experience in policy analysis, ideally within a European energy context
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues clearly
  • Proven ability to draft clear, evidence‑based documentation
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • High level of financial and commercial awareness
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Flexible, proactive approach with the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Ability to influence, guide and engage stakeholders effectively
