JOB SUMMARY: Pursuant to Act No. 2007-503, the Personnel Board of Jefferson County (PBJC) is responsible for electing/appointing Member Number One to the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Supplemental Pension Board of Managers for the City of Birmingham to serve a four‑year term. Members of the Firefighters' and Police Officers' Supplemental Pension Board meet on a monthly basis and are not paid for their service. The Pension Board Member serves as a fiduciary representative overseeing the City’s supplemental pension fund. This role involves reviewing financial and investment reports, approving pension applications, and contributing to informed decision‑making that ensures the stability and integrity of the plan. Meeting Schedule: Second Wednesday of each month, 1:30 PM (meetings typically last 25–30 minutes, but no more than 90 minutes).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: There is no compensation associated with this role.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of five (5) or more consecutive years as an executive in insurance, actuarial, investments, or banking, or as a certified public accountant immediately preceding his or her appointment.
