About the role

As Short Form Video Producer, you will be responsible for producing impeccably researched, premium science videos for Veritasium’s global audience of knowledge-seekers. You’ll understand what it takes to make content resonate on short form platforms, with a particular flair for creating compelling intro hooks — injecting pace and intrigue, while still delivering the level of depth and intellectual satisfaction Veritasium fans expect. Working alongside the long form content team, as Producer you’ll be hands-on at every stage of the pre-production process, from ideation, through to scripting and filming. This role would suit a science graduate with proven experience of producing compelling short form content.

Responsibilities

• Write, research and produce original short form videos for Veritasium
• Work with Veritasium’s Writer/Directors to ensure we are creating short form content that supports, and expands on, our long form video output
• Create content that resonates on short form platforms, with a focus on edit pacing and impactful intro hooks
• Develop video ideas that will delight the Veritasium audience
• Write accurately scripted content that expands people’s understanding of the world
• Continuously analyze video performance to ensure ideation and production are backed by data and audience insight
• Analyse the short form video landscape across platforms to tailor content to current platform best practices
• Pitch ideas for branded content in response to client briefs, where required
• Provide creative feedback to video editors
• Ensure short form content adheres to Veritasium brand values and audience expectations
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Editorial, Brand Partnerships, Publishing and more

Requirements

• Science degree
• Track record of producing educational short form content
• A strong understanding of short form video trends and retention tactics
• Passion for Veritasium and its educational mission
• Excellent level of technical knowledge in video production
• Strong project management skills with proven ability to drive projects forward and hit deadlines
• Fantastic communication skills, with the ability to sell a video concept and build trust with Veritasium’s creative team
• Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for visual aesthetics
• Adept at analysing data and making data-driven decisions

Desirable

• You probably won’t appear on-screen — but we’d be interested in candidates who have experience presenting their own content on short form platforms
• Experience of building your own audience as a science creator
• Experience of producing branded content in response to a client brief
