Senior/Staff Applied Scientist – Photoroom

Photoroom launched in 2020 after being accepted into Y Combinator and has become the world's most popular AI photo editor over the past four years. Our goal is to create the technology allowing anyone to create studio-level product images in minutes.

With over 300 million downloads and processing more than 5 billion images annually, we serve individual creators and major enterprises like Amazon, DoorDash, and Decathlon through our B2C app and B2B API solutions. • You’ll be the eleventh engineer in the ML team, working alongside great talent from various backgrounds.
• You will have full ownership of your ML work streams when applicable or collaborate with teammates on big topics. You’ll have a say in how that goes.
• You will master the whole pipeline: from training models to putting them into production and monitoring performance.
• You will work on new features, new applications, and 0→1 solutions.
• You will get fast feedback from our users and iterate quickly, making decisions based on product usage.
• You will work within a small multicultural team of about 75 passionate, friendly & committed folks.

• 3+ years of experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or Jax, and are willing to start or keep working with PyTorch.
• Extensive experience with diffusion models for image creation or editing; you’ve trained diffusion models from scratch, or practiced deep surgery beyond their original pre‑training.
• Pragmatic mindset, favoring speed of iteration over perfection; you leverage frameworks and libraries to avoid reinventing the wheel.
• Experience working on products requiring complex architectures.
• Strong sense of ownership and initiative; comfortable making product & technical decisions.
• Experience as part of a talented team in a fast‑growing startup.
• Curiosity, and ability to explain or learn as needed. The team values knowledge sharing and humility.
• Fluent in English (French is not required).
