Rehabilitation Technician Assistant

The closing date is 06 January 2026

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Environmental Control Service (RECS) for a suitably experienced Rehabilitation Technician Assistant. Our service provides specialist assessment and equipment loan provision of electronic assistive technology to support and promote independence. The service is the regional hub for the North East and Cumbria. The service works with both adults and children experiencing a range of complex physical difficulties that prevent them being able to control multiple aspects of their home environment, e.g. neurological conditions (such as motor neuron disease, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, acquired brain injury, etc.), complex arthritis and spinal injuries. These clients may have associated cognitive, behavioural or learning difficulties.

The post holder will be required to configure, complete and install electronic assistive technology solutions, repair existing equipment, mount devices to wheelchairs and perform annual maintenance including satisfactory electrical PAT testing. Client review forms a major part of the day‑to‑day activities. There will also be a requirement to deliver / collect equipment as needed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will support the clinical team in delivering electronic assistive technology (EAT) solutions to clients with complex physical difficulties and/or learning difficulties, life limiting diagnoses and challenging behaviours. Review will form a major aspect of this post, involving clients/carer and the bespoke solutions provided following clinical assessment. The post holder will report to a senior technician / technologist for their daily duties but will be expected to manage their own workload.

The post holder will be required to configure and complete solo visits to install electronic assistive technology solutions, repair existing equipment, mount devices to wheelchairs and perform annual maintenance including satisfactory electrical PAT testing. There will also be a requirement to deliver / collect equipment as needed. The post holder will have the opportunity on occasion to work with other colleagues in developing new devices and / or solutions. The post holder will provide technical expertise and support. You will also be expected to be able to meet the travel requirements needed to offer a service for the North East and North Cumbria area.
