Overview

Salary: £42,000 per annum based on experience + overtime + pension + bonus.

Hours: 45 hours per week full time

Location: Unit 1, Cumberland Works, Wintersells Business Park, Byfleet, Surrey KT14 7LF, UK

+ some international travel

Our unique products enable people in wheelchairs to access any building, at any time, through the front door. Reliability and stability of our lifts are paramount, so it is essential that our lifts are manufactured and assembled to a very high specification. Therefore, we need proactive, motivated, highly qualified staff to join our team. You will be essential to the success of the company.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Fabricate and assemble metal structures and components using welding equipment and hand tools.
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding on various materials including steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
  • Operate fabrication equipment such as saws and grinders. Basic knowledge of machine shop tooling would be an advantage.
  • Inspect and test welded surfaces and structure to ensure specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Measure and mark cutting and bending lines using measuring tools.
  • Follow all company safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and team members to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Communicate and record any issues found within the welding / fabricating process that Sesame can learn from (continuous improvement).
  • Excellent communication with coworkers.
Additional Duties

Qualifications / Requirements
  • Proven experience as a welder fabricator (5+ years).
  • City and Guilds, BTEC, NVQ Level 2 or 3 (Fabrication and Welding), Diploma qualification or equivalent.
  • Good spoken English.
  • Comfortable reading engineering and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong skills in MIG and TIG welding.
  • Experience working with metal fabrication equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to safely lift materials.
Preferred Skills (Optional but Advantageous)
  • Lathe and machine shop tooling.
  • Forklift training will be given onsite.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Exposure to noise, heat, sparks, and metal fumes. PPE and air extraction machinery provided.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (provided).

Key Points
  • 20 days annual leave. 3 of these days are automatically deducted for the period December 24th and January 2nd. The successful applicant will have 17 days to use throughout the working year.
  • 07:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday excluding Bank Holidays. Paid overtime is sometimes available.
  • There is a company-wide profit-related bonus policy, paid annually (subject to Management discretion).
  • Appraisal every 6 months. The first six months of employment are considered the probationary period; salary will remain the same.
  • The starting salary is £42,000 per annum based on experience + overtime + pension + bonus. Additional salary could be paid for exceptional candidates.
