A specialist water compliance team is looking for an experienced Water Hygiene Engineer to join in Scotland, preferably Elgin or Dufftown. The role involves ensuring the safe operation of water systems, conducting inspections, and managing compliance with relevant legal responsibilities. Successful candidates will have 3-5 years of experience in water hygiene, particularly with cooling towers, and must possess a full UK driving license. Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in water hygiene/water treatment.
  • Familiarity with cooling towers, evaporative cooling systems, and water softeners.
  • Confident in producing reports and client communication.
  • Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cooling tower inspections, system cleans, and disinfections.
  • Carry out temperature monitoring, water sampling, and system analysis.
  • Chemically dose and calibrate controllers on cooling systems.
  • Servicing TMV, calorifier inspections, and domestic water hygiene monitoring.

Skills

Hands-on experience in water hygiene/water treatment
Strong background with cooling towers
Ability to communicate with clients
Understanding of ACoP L8 and HSG274

Education

Relevant water treatment certification (BOAS, City & Guilds)

Join a specialist water compliance team that protects public health, ensures safe operation of water systems, and helps clients meet their legal responsibilities. Due to continued growth, we are recruitingan experienced Water Hygiene Engineerwith strong practical experience working oncooling towers, water softenersand water hygiene monitoring.

As a Water Hygiene Engineer, you’ll take ownership of planned preventive maintenance and remedial works across a range of customer sites, ensuring compliance withACoP L8, HSG274 Part 1 and 2, and relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting cooling tower inspections, system cleans, and full disinfections
  • Carrying out temperature monitoring, water sampling, and closed system analysis
  • Chemical dosing and calibration of controllers on evaporative cooling systems
  • TMV servicing, calorifier inspections, and domestic water hygiene monitoring
  • Producing detailed service reports and maintaining site logbooks
  • Working safely in line with site permits, RAMS, and company procedures
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in water hygiene / water treatment
  • Strong background working with cooling towers and evaporative cooling systems
  • Experience with water softeners
  • Solid understanding of ACoP L8, HSG274, and Legionella compliance
  • Confident producing reports and communicating with clients on site
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to travel across the region, including occasional early starts or overnight stays

Desirable (not essential):

  • BOAS, City & Guilds, or other relevant water treatment certification
  • CSCS card, confined spaces, or working-at-height training
