Overview

Are you compassionate, patient, and dedicated to supporting young people? We’re looking for a Waking Night Care Worker - Children and Young People to provide a safe, nurturing environment where children can thrive. You will play a crucial role in supporting the children’s needs overnight, ensuring their safety, well-being, and security in line with our policies and procedures. This is a full-time role of 40 hours per week, working 22:00-09:00 including evenings and weekends and occasional day shifts.

Who are we? Our home's overall aim is to provide a safe environment that supports children presenting with SEMH difficulties to achieve positive outcomes. Our specialist model is designed to provide a unique, integrated approach to care, education, health and mental health supported within a nurturing residential setting. This allows us to help children build resilience, promote social inclusion, support engagement in the community and educational and vocational activities, promote independence and support children in rehabilitation and recovery among other outcomes.

What you’ll be doing
  • Stay awake during night shifts, providing constant supervision of the home.
  • Help build their confidence, independence, and life skills.
  • Work closely with a team to provide emotional and practical support.
  • Regularly check the security of the building and alert senior staff if any security issues arise.
  • Ensure all children are accounted for and report any missing children to senior staff.
  • Assist with bedtime routines, helping children settle in for the night.
  • Help the children wake up and get ready in the morning.
  • Ensure every child feels valued and heard.
