A community support charity in Glasgow seeks volunteer mentors to assist adults in short-term housing and outreach programs. Volunteers will be trained and matched with mentees, providing support through community activities. This role requires commitment of up to 3 hours weekly, promoting personal growth and social connection. Volunteers can participate in activities like local walking groups or virtual sessions.
We are recruiting volunteer mentors with a kind and empathetic nature to support adults (18+) who are being supported in our short-term housing, supported accommodation and outreach programmes across the Greater Glasgow and South Lanarkshire and Edinburgh areas. Our community mentoring programme encourages personal growth, social connection and sustainable integration within communities for the people we support.
As a volunteer you will be fully trained by our team of Volunteer Coordinators who will get to know your passions and interests, allowing you to be suitably matched with one of the adults that we support. We’ll provide guidance and support every step of the way.
Our values make us who we are and define our actions and behaviours every day. We expect volunteers to uphold and represent our organisation in a way that reflects our values and person-centred way of working.
Our volunteer mentors are expected to dedicate up to 3 hours per week or fortnight with their mentee, taking part in activities and building community connections. Whether it’s joining a local walking group, visiting a community garden, or sharing a cuppa at a neighbourhood café, the possibilities are endless!
Sessions can be held virtually if needed, however we encourage face‑to‑face meetups to create more meaningful experiences. All activities are funded; we only need you to be a friendly face and a listening ear and be committed to spending dedicated time with your mentee.
We are Right There, a charity that recently celebrated our 200th anniversary. We provide tailored support for people, at home, and in the community. We are here for people who are living with the effects of homelessness, poverty, substance use, or family breakdowns.
Last year we supported almost 4,000 individuals, helping to prevent them from becoming homeless or separated from the people they love. Every person’s story is unique, and everyone’s route home is different - it doesn’t matter what the situation is – we’re not here to judge, only to help.
