Overview
eScribers is continually seeking to engage with digital reporters (logger) in the London area to join our UK team of professionals. The eScribers (Limited) UK Group comprises two reporting and transcription companies, eScribers Limited and Marten Walsh Cherer Limited. Successful candidates will contract with eScribers Limited and have the option of engaging with either entity to undertake work. eScribers provides high-quality reporting services and is ISO9001 certified.
Responsibilities
- Transporting and setting up of digital recording equipment both remotely and on location.
- Managing the recording and logging of events in a professional and efficient manner, adhering to agreed timescales, and seeking appropriate support when necessary.
- Communicating effectively with colleagues, clients and venue staff to meet contractual obligations to the highest standards.
- Building relationships with clients and host venues to ensure the smooth running of the event and to facilitate the transfer of information for a quality transcript.
- Possessing an understanding of Court proceedings and basic legal terminology.
- Providing a high level of customer service and support to all stakeholders.
- Identifying and troubleshooting common issues.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.

General Requirements
- Reside in the UK
- Be legally entitled to work in the UK
- Have a current UK bank account to receive payment
- Be reliable, with good time management and plenty of flexibility (as proceedings can overrun)
- Be a confident communicator (written & verbal)
- Be smart and well presented
- Be able to remain calm under pressure. Intermediate technical IT/AV troubleshooting skills
- A confident Microsoft Windows, Word user
- Knowledge and application of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and syntax skills
- Have good attention to detail and focus
- Be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Discretion and the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality
- Problem identification and resolution skills
- Previous experience as a Digital Reporter/Logger (with some exceptions)
- Based in the London area with easy access to Central London (particularly Canary Wharf, Kennington and Farringdon); travel to other locations including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff and Manchester, including overnight stays, will be a bonus

- Previous experience as a Digital Reporter/Logger (not essential; suitability may depend on location and experience)
- Ability to work in person (on location) and remotely (quiet room in your home)
Basis of Engagement
Successful candidates will be offered a freelancer contract and will be compensated on agreed rates. As an independent contractor, you will submit/approve invoices and be paid via direct deposit. The volume of work can fluctuate, and there is no guarantee of work, but priority will be given to editors who maintain excellent quality standards.
Onboarding
Successful candidates will undertake onboarding that includes an initial aptitude test, a telephone/MS Teams interview, submission of documentation, completion of required paperwork (freelancer contract), computer setup, and a BPSS check (including Criminal Records Check) at the candidate’s expense.
