What difference will you make?

As a trustee you contribute to the general oversight and development of Gloucestershire Nightstop, bringing specialist skills such as fundraising, development and communications. Will further help us achieve our mission of ending youth homelessness making us sustainable and respected.

What are we looking for?

• Commitment to attend 6 evening meetings in Gloucester per year, plus occasional additional meetings or membership of working groups.
• Have 3 years plus in area of expertise/profession.
• Understanding of and compliance with the guidance and requirements set out by the Charity Commission and Companies House.
• Commitment to engage in a timely manner in email discussions and decisions that are needed for matters arising urgently between meetings.
• Willingness to raise the profile of Gloucestershire Nightstop and widen awareness of their important work whenever appropriate opportunities arise in conversation, at work or socially – as a small Charity every such contact is invaluable.
• Working closely and harmoniously with other Board members, to bring to bear their skills.
• To determine and set the strategic direction of the organisation.
• To ensure sound financial governance of resources.
• To act at all times in the best interests of the charity.
• To ensure that GN meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities.
• To assist from time to time in the recruitment of staff [rare].
• Occasionally to engage with service users [young people] and the Nightstop team - by popping into the office [always welcome!] and/or attending celebratory or fundraising events, where possible [mindful of the Trustee’s other work and domestic commitments. The amount of ‘spare’ time varies hugely from one Trustee to the next].

What will you be doing?

Bring your 3 years plus knowledge and passion to support Nightstop at this crucial time of evolution in terms of meeting the need homeless young people and those at risk.

We are a small but growing charity at a pivotal moment in our evolution. We are looking for someone to take on the role of Trustee. The successful candidate will have a passion for this work and if you are interested in or have a background in fundraising or communications that would be very helpful, but not essential.

You will offer vital knowledge and advice to thus dynamic group of people in your given area of expertise. Board meetings are Bi Monthly in person in Gloucester.

Our Executive Director has been in post 5 years and is an experienced Charity Executive Director, you will need to work openly and supportively with this post.
