We are currently seeking to recruit a Translation Coordinator to join our Ford of Europe Production House.

The Translation Coordinator role plays a pivotal part in managing and overseeing all aspects of translation projects from inception to completion. This position requires a highly organised and detail-oriented individual with strong project management skills and a passion for linguistic accuracy. The Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating resources, managing timelines, ensuring quality, and facilitating seamless communication between clients, internal teams, and our global network of translators to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, accurate, and culturally appropriate translated content across various platforms and formats, including digital, print, and multimedia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage translation projects from initiation to completion, overseeing all phases including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing.
  • Receive, analyse, and prioritise translation requests, gathering all necessary information such as deadlines, language registers, and specific terminology.
  • Assign translation tasks to in-house and external translators, editors, and proofreaders, ensuring appropriate resource allocation.
  • Monitor project timelines and workflows diligently, proactively identifying and resolving any issues to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Facilitate clear and effective communication between clients, translators, and internal departments, providing regular status updates and addressing queries.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on translated materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, adherence to style guides, and proper terminology usage, maintaining the original meaning and tone, often reviewing content within its final layout or digital environment.
  • Maintain and update translation memories, glossaries, and style guides to ensure consistency across all projects.
  • Prepare project quotes, manage budgets, and process invoices related to translation services.
  • Utilise and maintain translation management systems (TMS), CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, and other relevant software and platforms to optimise workflow efficiency and ensure consistency.
  • Provide feedback and support to translators, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external translation vendors and individual translators.
  • Assist with other language-related initiatives and special projects as needed.
  • Collaborate with Design Team to address layout, formatting, and cultural adaptation issues post-translation.
About You
  • Bachelor's degree in Languages, Translation, Linguistics, Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in translation project management or coordination.
  • Fluency in English and at least one other language is required; proficiency in multiple languages is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple stakeholders across different locations.
  • Familiarity with translation management software (TMS) and other relevant translation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of translation and interpretation processes and protocols.
  • Strong technical aptitude and comfort with learning and adapting to new software and digital tools.
  • Exceptional organisational and project management skills, with the ability to multitask and manage a multitude of tasks simultaneously.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams and clients.
  • Superior proofreading skills, with the ability to identify grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as a collaborative team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Drive, Sheets, Mail). Familiarity with or a strong aptitude for quickly learning various content management systems (CMS), desktop publishing (DTP) software (e.g., Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress for review purposes), and multimedia tools (e.g., for subtitle or voice-over review) is highly desirable.
  • Strong client-facing skills, with a focus on understanding and meeting client expectations.
  • Understanding of common file formats used in localization (e.g., XML, HTML, XLIFF, SRT) and familiarity with reviewing translated content within diverse digital and print layouts.

Salary & Benefits

Up to £30,000 dependant on experience. Pre-employment Checks

Calex will undertake the relevant/standard employment checks with any successful candidate. Some roles may also be subject to further pre-employment checks (confirmation will be provided through the recruitment process).
