Job summary

A leading water utility company in Swansea is seeking a Trainee Sewerage Operative to assist with customer responses to sewerage incidents. In this role, you will handle tasks such as sewer inspections, maintenance operations, and customer service interactions. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic about putting customers first and possess or be working towards a driving licence. What to expect

Trainee Sewerage Operative

Your role as a Trainee Sewerage Operator will require you to deal with our initial customer response to sewerage incidents across the business area. You will be required to undertake all tasks associated with delivering excellent customer service to all customers.

The position will be required to undertake the following operations (but this not solely restricted to those examples listed below):

  • Responding to customer reported incidents and assisting with clearing blockages / jetting and providing detailed feedback on actions taken.
  • Sewer network inspections (inc. Sewer connections)
  • Sewer Location Surveys
  • Jetting / Flushing / De-silting of Sewers / Lone-Working
  • Planned and Reactive Maintenance of assets
  • Liaison with customers and stakeholders
  • Detailed and timely completion of actions taken on all incidents in the work management systems.
  • Learn to operate and assess asset condition utilising looksee CCTV equipment.
  • Cleaning up affected area following flooding events.

About you
  • We are looking for someone who’s enthusiastic about putting out customers first every day and a team player, willing to take part in all necessary training requirements required for the role.
  • A driving licence is required for this role. If you don’t have one currently, we ask that you are working towards this.
Good to know
  • Length of programme: 18 months
  • Start Date: All of our apprenticeship and trainee programmes will start on 07 September 2026
  • Training: will be provided on the job
